Maungaturoto Floral Success at School

The Maungaturoto school children held a very successful sweet pea and rose show at the school on Friday, There was a very good display of blooms, and those unable to show sweet peas or roses brought beautiful flowers of many varieties for exhibition. Tire four class-rooms were very gay with blossoms. In the afternoon, parents were invited to inspect the show, and many enjoyed an interesting afternoon at the school. Great interest was taken in the sweet pea show last year, but this year the show was much larger, and it is pleasing to see the enthusiasm of the children. The Prize-Winners. Mr Lindsay judged the sweet peas and the teachers judged the other classes* Mr Lindsay presented prizes for most points gained, the winners being: Heather Jackman, and Pat and Terry Hanna. The prize list was as follows: Champion bloom: David Judd 1, Pat and Terry Hanna 2, Dawn Jeffs 3. Best two varieties: Pat and Terry Hanna 1, Heather Jackman 2, Nina Grant 3. Best four varieties: Pat and Terry Hanna 1, Ina Judd 2, Heather Jackman 3.

Best seven varieties: Eileen Halligan 1. Rae Stewart 2, Heather Jackman 3. Best, mixed vase; Pat and Terry Hanna 1, Velma Smith 2, Rae Stewart ,3.

Gther prize-winners for special exhibits were: Nina Grant, Allane Ariel], Cameron Mcßae, Margaret Massey, Mavis Judd, Jean Leach, Joan Hayes, Noel Judd, Fay Johns, Roie Smith, Una Flower, Isabel McGill, Heather Jackman, June Finlayson, Pat Hanna, Terry Hanna.
