Whangarei Acceptances. Acceptances for all events at the Whangarei meeting. to be held on November 4 and 5, close at 5 p.m. on Friday next. October 28.

Track in Good Order

Favourable reports have been received regarding the state of the track at Kensington Park, an abundant growth and even surface making it the best it has been for many seasons.

Early Winner. Parquet is showing signs of an early return to the winning list.

Maxam Ready. Maxam is bright, and is threatening to take some easy money among moderate hack sprinters.

In Racing Shape. Valamito should shortly be ready to make a decent bid for a stake. He is coming into racing shape.

Short Distance Preferred,

• Falustre is still in great condition, but the shorter the trip the better for this sprinter.

To Tackle Open Class. Faddy the Rip is in the right heart to tackle the Whangarei open class, and should give a good account of himself if he makes the trip.

Coming On Nicely. Mai de Mer is coming on nicely to be in trim for a big effort in the minor class.

Has Pace Enough. Pasture is one at Ellerslie which is doing things right, and has pace enough to be thought of seriously among the novice class.

In Good Order.

Round Up, Inver and Hot Box are a trio of Fred Smith’s charges going on the right way since Ellerslie spring racing. Due For Open Company. Royevrus promises to be right for another decent effort when the Takapuna meeting arrives. Bill Townsend’s chestnut is still eligible for the hack class, but one win will put him out. Not For Riccarton. Anopheles vill not be at Riccarton next month. She came back to Auckland after the Wellington meeting, and, despite defeat in the Wellesley Stakes, her party- are confident she will still prove a useful stake earner.

An Early Winner. Birthday Boy is one worth keeping in mind. In a recent sprint with the speedy Sir Abb, he showed the n <-ossary dash to win races. Birthday Boy is one of Bagby’s team.

Wliangarei Cup Entrant. Sergia is among nominees from the Waikato for the Whangarei meeting. She is entered for the Whangarei Cup on the first day, and the loose going here should be in her favour.

Debut at Whangarei. Brilliant Acre experienced his first fall last week since being set for a hurdle career. Nothing serious happened as a result,- and he will make his debut over the sticks at the Whangarei meeting.

Palmlnt Fancied.

Palmint, who is entered for the Whangarei meeting on November 4

and 5, has not gone back since winning at Faeroa, and if he strikes a small field on the turning track, should again be prominent in the run home.

Slow Process. Orelio seems to have recovered from his recent soreness, but trainer Fred Smith is not unduly hurrying this son of Limond, which has only to go on safely to be worth while. Will Make Amends. It was bad .luck for the connections of Golden Fam that she was unable to run at Waverley, because of an enforced spell necessitated by an accident. The Lackham mare is all right again, and in the near future she may make amends for her recent failures.

Finishes Strongly. Mawai figures in two races at Bulls on Saturday, and in whichever she starts she will be hard to beat. In her races so far, she has been slow to gather up pace, but has always finished on strongly, and if she takes on the distance hack event, she is likely to be in the front line.

Gay Movie Coming. The classy Takanini two-year-old. Gay Movie, will be in Whangarei to contest the Maiden Stakes on opening day. Gay Movie has more than average speed, and would only need to repeat her track efforts to be assured of success at Whangarei. Her recent starts at Avondale and Ellerslio have had a beneficial effect and she now races with more confidence.

Next Appearance. Although his Trentham engagements were not continued, there is nothing amiss with Dark Flight, and the Riverton two-year-old continues to get through useful work. Dark Flight’s next appearance will probably be made at the New Zealand Cup meeting. and as he displayed outstanding ability at Wingatui, his form will be followed with more than ordinary interest.

Likely Handieapper. Kelly is retaining his best speed, and F. Gilchrist’s charge is due to lead a handicap field to the judge.

Fancied For Saturday, Darthura should be improved by her outing at Waverley, and the Koropiti filly is likely to be in the money at the Bulls meeting on Saturday.

Worth Remembering - . A course of schooling has done Sporting Luck no harm, and the fact that she led Namara into the straight at Marton is worth remembering at the Bulls meeting on Saturday.

Above the Average. The Posterity gelding Dynasty is making good progress, and from the way he is shaping, this youngster gives promise of proving above the average.

On The Up-Grade. Kilberis should liven up the hurdle ranks before the season is far advanced. Ho is definitely on the upgrade.

Stewards’ Prospect, Cocksure has developed into a solid sort, and is entitled to be ticked off as a likely Stewards’ Handicap winner. Cocksure is owned by the Hons. Hunter and Webb,

Knows How to Gallop. Eurotas had to miss Waverley owing to a let-up necessitated by soreness, but he is in steady work again, in view of the Bulls meeting on Saturday. When this gelding strikes a firm track, he is likelv to show that he knows how to gallop. Debut at Bulls. Ruatiti, the big brother to Porotiti, is to have his first race at Bulls on Saturday in the Trial Stakes, He is reported to be very green at present, and such a long stridor may find the distance too short for him.

Willie Win Kicked

Willie Win was kicked at the post in the Watkins Handicap at Trentham on Saturday and was so sore during the running that he was pulled up in the straight. He walked away practically on three legs, and may be some days getting right again.

Costly Failure. Amatory put up such a good gallop on the Wanganui track before going to Trentham that his winning prospects in the mile hack race the first day were held to be very bright. His failure to gain a place cost the river city puntei’s a. lot of money.

Bert Ellis Overweight! Bert Ellis, who went to Melbourne to ride Ploodtide in the Melbourne Cup, arrived back from Australia on Friday, and was at Trentham on Saturday, He could have* had a couple of ride, but had too big an appetite on the Awatea, and arrived back several pounds over his usual weight, so he was an onlooker. Jim Ellis, who was married last week, was also at the meeting. Jim will be back in the saddle at Christmas.

Phar Lap's Bones. To assist Mr Charles Lindsay, Dominion Museum taxidermist, with the task of preparing and assembling for exhibition the bones of Phar Lap, famous New Zealand racehorse, Mr E. H. Gibson, of the Otago Museum, will go. to Wellington. The skeleton is expected to require about a fortnight for assembly, and will afterwards be placed on exhibition in the museum.
