j [ Special to "Northern Advocate/’I ; WELLINGTON, This Day. i As a result of a kick from a horse at the Wellington Racing Club’s spring j meeting at Trentham yesterday, a 1 compound fracture of the leg was suffered by the successful jockey, C. G. Goulsbro. While walking Anopheles I round at the post awaiting the start of the Wellesley Stakes, Goulsbro was kicked by another runner. The start was delayed 15 minutes while L. H. Clifford was substituted for Goulsbro, who was removed to hospital. Anopheles ran a good race for third, but had no chance with the winner Beaulivre. The mishap to Goulsbro meant finding a new rider for Te Hero, who dead-heated for first
with Alunga in the Shorts Handicap, and the mount was given to P. Burgess.
