Mr Duncan McLennan, the wellknown Scottish dancer, who has been suffering from a serious illness for the past eighteen months, left yesterday for a Auckland hospital where he will undergo specialist treatment.

The general manager of the Bank of New Zealand, Mr F. W. Dawson, will retire on April 30, 1939. By the time he vacates the position, he will have given 47 years of unbroken service to the bank. His application to the board of directors to be relieved was received with regret.

A meeting yesterday of the directors of the National Insurance Company of New Zealand, Ltd., appointed Mr Cyril William Birch, head office inspector, to the position of general manager of the company. The position was rendered vacant by the death of Mr A. Mumford, in August.
