The market tone on ’Change was fairly bright this morning, and at the first call an unusually large turnover was recorded, mostly on the basis of recently recovered values. In the banking and insurance sections, Bank of New Zealand, Unions and South British all sold at late rates, Commercial Banks had a firm market between 16 - and 16/4. Breweries were in good demand, and buyers of New Zeabnds moved up to 4C/6, with sellers at 41/-. In Australian industrials, Glass shares recovered to 92/-, and Colonial Sugars gained 32 /6, with business at £46 12/6. the market closing between £46 10/- .and £46 15/-. There were signs of improvement in the demand for Government stocks, and the 46 —49's sold 10. - higher at £lOl.

Saks completed at the noon call today included; Broken Hill Proprietary. £2 16/6; Woolworth’s Holdings. 14/11; Mt, Lyells, £1 7/-.
