Mr. G. P. Shepherd has been appointed Judge of the Native Land Court as from October 1, according to a Gazette notice.
Mr E. B. Glanville, Instructor of Agriculture, Whangarei, left yesterday morning for Hamilton, where he will attend the annual grasslands conference, at which he will give a paper on the grassing of gumlands in the North.
Mr M. H. Wallace, formerly of the Waikato and Wellington districts, has recently taken up his duties at Whangarei‘as dairy instructor for Northland. Mr Wallace replaces Mr L. A. Morrison, who has been transferred to Waikato.
Prior to her recent marriage to Mr A. Noone, of Onerahi, Miss Nancy Fisher, on the staff of the Health Department, at Whangarei, was met at afternoon tea by members of other Government Department staffs, and was presented with a crystal vase.
A well-known pioneer of Canterbury, Mrs Agnes Isitt, widow of the Hon. L. M. Isitt, died at her home, Cashmere Hills, Christchurch, last week. She is survived by one son, Group Captain L. M. Isitt (Wellington), one daughter, Mrs C. J. Thornton (Christchurch), one sister, Miss Alice Claverhill (Oxford, North Canterbury), and three brothers, Messrs C. Claverhill (Plimmerton), F. Claverhill (Whangarei) and J. Claverhill (Te Kuiti). One son was killed at the Great War.
