MISSION STEAMER AT AUCKLAND—The Melanesian Mission steamer Southern Cross at the wharf at Auckland on Friday just before leaving for the New Hebrides after spending a month in Auckland for survey and overhaul. It is expected that she will arrive at Vila on October 7. The Southern Cross will not revisit New Zealand until 1940, when it is proposed she shall return for the Centennial.
