Band Holds Successful Concert
Musically minded Whangarei residents were given a feast of entertainment cn Sunday evening, when the Whangarei Municipal Band presented a most successful concert. There was a fair attendance, and the general impression of the standard revealed by the band was extremely favourable. In a short address. Mr C. L. Ford, president of the band, thanked the audience for its attendance, and expressed the hope that this function would be the forerunner cf future similar events.
Particular attention centred round the appearance of Miss G. Beehre, vocalist, and Master Dennehy, elocutionist, both of whom delighted the audience with their items. Another popular vocalist was MiNelson Procter, who, as did the other assisting artists, responded with encores.
The band programme, which included several of the latest airs and selections to be published for band use, was as fellows: March, “Ironclad;” selection, “Don Pasquale;” cornet solo (band accompaniment), “Jaclv in a Box,” Bandmaster J. W. Dobson; selection, “Festivalia;” fantasia, “Round the Campfire;” march, “Repasz Band.”
