Arrangements For Maori Election
To the normal routine of the Native Department at Whangarei has been added the responsibility of supervising the Maori election in this district on Friday, October 14, the day prior "to the general Parliamentary election. The returning officer for the Northern Maori electorate is Mr J. H. Robertson, of the Native Department, Auckland, who will establish his headquarters at Kaikohe on Wednesday of next week, and will remain in the northern centre until after the election.
In the Whangarei district, the officer in charge of the local office of the Native Department, Mr M. R. Findlay, will act as deputy-returning officer. Polling booths are being established at schools and other convenient centres throughout the electorate, and those in the immediate vicinity of Whangai’ei will be located at Whangarei itself, Hikurangi, Kamo, Portland. Otaika and Whakapara
Natives in Whangarei will vote at the Courthouse.
