Abyssinian Invasion Anniversary

LONDON, October 2,

The third anniversary of the Italian invasion of Ethiopia falls today. The Rome correspondent of the British United Press says the war cost £150.000,000, and, in spite of the prediction of a rosy future for Abyssinia, it has failed to live up to Italian expectations. This disappointment is not due to poverty of soil or lack of minerals, but to the fact that Italy has not been able to carry out her colonial programme, owing to its immensity, and to lack of cash.

The trade balance has gradually become more favourable. The value of exports increased in the past year from £66,000 to £220,000. The value of imports fell to £177,000.
