Those Words Of Mystery

There are in the English language a number pf mysterious words which sound alike, but are spelt differently and have entirely different meanings. They are Included In a group of words that are known by a very long name —homonyms.

To-day we’ve thought out several, and as a result you have a first-rate competition*

Following there is a list of 25 “definitions.” Each of these gives a clue to one half of a word pair.

Competitors to-day must supply the answer to each of the 25 questions and in addition write the second word that wil! complete the pair. We’ve supplied the correci answers to Question No. 1 as an example to

show you exactly what to do. Each entry must be accompanied by a riddle, and. In the event of ties, this will be considered as the deciding factor. Half crown prizes for the best work received.
