NORTHLAND TRIBE
"Adv./eate” Office, Wsuer St. Whangarei, Tuesday, October 4, 1938.
Hello Everybody—-s-o.s.
There Is no need to explain what those three letters mean, but no doubt you’d like to know just what’s wanted. *
As a matter of fact, there are two wants, and as Northlanders can supply both, what better idea than to ask for them?
First—Recipes and lots of them. Remember about a fortnight ago I told you we wanted to bring the Cookery Nook out of hiding? Well, I’ve had a few recipes sent and several promised, but before we open the "cupboard door” 1 want it to be full of good things. I’m quite certain that in the last few months Mo.her has found some interesting new recipes, so send them along. The second S.O.S. is really from Kupe. "Stories, Princess, are what we want," he said a few minutes ago. I had just handed him a large bundle of contributions from which to select tit-bits for today’s Page,
“Gracious! Goodness!” he exclaimed, “these are nearly all riddles and jokes. We need them, of course, but haven’t you any stories?”
So there you are, Northlanders. We need stories of all kinds, long or short, copied or original—preferably the latter—and don’t forget to state Which they are.
I’d also like to know how to cure a naughty Kimdog of a liking for Banties, but I don’t suppose you can help me with that problem. But please, get busy on the S.O.S-’s.
Princess, Northland Tribe.
