Rayner - Franklin Purse Withheld

FPer Press Association. Copyright.! WELLINGTON, Tins' Day. The Wellington Boxing Association has withheld the purse in connection with the match between Clarrie Rayner and Joe Franklin, at the Town Hall last Thursday night. The contest will bd the subject of an inquiry on Wednesday evening.

The bout was for the New Zealand professional lightweight championship, held by Rayner. It lasted less than four rounds, the referee awarding the decision to Rayner after Franklin had been warned for "hitting when a break had been ordered. A little later Rayner collapsed to the mat, and the referee then took the action above mentioned, to the accompaniment of a hostile demonstration.
