Epsom To King’s Head

(Received 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, October 2. The aged Bullhead horse King’s Head, who had filled many minor places in some of the best races, received his reward at Randwick yesterday, when, in record time, he took the Epsom Handicap on the opening day of the Australian Jockey Club’s spring meeting, which was favoured with delightful weather. The popular Nightguard, who was reported to have been kicked at the barrier, was well beaten at the [ straight entrance in the Epsom Handicap.

The Derby resulted in a hollow victory for the distinguished Victorian colt Nuffield, who outclassed all but Aeolus.

The attendance was 70,000, which was 10,000 more than last year.
