Very Fine Cast In The Film “Angel”

Ernst Lubitsch • 'considered himself extremely fortunate in securing the services, in addition to Miss Dietrich, of Herbert Marshall and Melvyn Douglas for the leading male roles in Paramount’s “Angel.” Lubitsch had worked before with Marshall on “Trouble in Paradise.” which he still regards as one cf his favourite pictures, and has great respect for Marshall's ability. Lubitsch had never made a picture with Melvyn Douglas, but was determine to have him in this film, although it was difficult to arrange his schedule properly. , ■ i 1 , *

As it was, Douglas*had to finish work on “I Met Him in Paris” at ten one night, and be on the “Angel” set at seven-thxity the next morning. But the trouble was nothing in view of the work he has done in “Angel.” “If “Angel” has done anything,” says Lubitsch, “it has increased my appetite for direction, for it has turned out to an ideal picture in every way, with a fine script, three talented stars, and a lot of help from those splendid supporting players, Edward Everett Horton,. Ernest Cossart and Laura Hope Crews.” Joan Crawford’s new shoes for summer wear are of Oxford type and created from straw woven in a gay, plaid pattern. She has them in colour combinations to match her various active sports costumes.
