Big Prices At Kamo Beef Sale

The North Auckland Farmers’ Cooperative Limited reports having held a special beef sale at Kamo when fully the advertised number of beef cattle came forward. There was also a good yarding of dairy cattle and stores. Fat cows sold under particularly good competition, one cow on account of Mr J. P. McLennan, made £ 13/2/6 and a line from Mr H. Hutchinson made £l2/10/-. A fat heifer on account of Mr H. Croft made £l2/5/-; a cow and runner from Mr A. J. Comi’ie made £2l/15/- for the two, and two two-year-old bullocks on account of the same vendor made £l2. Fat bullocks sold under fair competition at late rates. Dairy cows and heifers, close to profit sold well, but backward sorts were not wanted. Competition for stores was animated and sold at late rates.

Medium prime bullocks, no heavy weights were yarded, made from £l2 to £l3/5/-; light prime bulocks, £lO/16 to £ll/18/-; unfinished, £9 to £lO/5/-; heavy prime cows and heifers, £ll/1/to £l3/2/6; medium, £9 to £lO/16/-; light, £6 to £B/18/-; medium-weight heifers, £B/4/- to £9/16/-; fat Jersey cows, £5 to £7/3/-; runners f~ £4/19/- to £6/2/-; lighter from £3/18 to £4; boner cows heavy, £4 to £4/15/; light, £2/10/- to £3/5/-; Shorthorn cows and calves, £6 to £7/15/-; two-year-old Shorthorn heifers: empty, £4 to £5; yearling Shorthorn heifers, £3/1 to £3/15/-; empty Shorthorn store cows, £4 to £5/7/6; Shorthorn cows, running with FA. bull, £5/7/6; three-year-old Shorthorn steers, £7 to £B/7/6; two-year-old Shorthorn steers, £6/110/-; yearling Hereford and Shorthorn steers, £4 to £5; yearling Jersey heifers, £4; small, £2/5/- to £3/7/-. Dairy cows:—Springers, £6/5/- to £7/10/-; backward sorts, £5/2/6 to £5/10/-; Jersey heifers, close to profit, £7 to £B/5/-; backward, £5 to £6/10/-; small* £4 to £4/15/-; Shorthorn heifers, £6 to £7/5/-.

A good yarding of pigs sold at late rates. Stores, £l/15/6 to £l/17/-; slips, £l/2/- to £l/8/-; weaners, 18/6 to 20/-.
