fPer Press — Comiriaht .l HASTINGS, This Day. Values wei’e again firm for the fat cattle at Stortford Lodge sale. Quality lines were not so numerous as last week. The principal entry of the day was a straight line of 40 head of qual-ity-bred Hereford heifers. They made the good average of £lO 2/6. The best price in the ox beef section was £ls 10/, for an entry of three weighty extra prime Shorthorn-Polled Angus cross bullocks. Top price in the fat cattle section was £lO 15/6 for a single extra prime Polled Angus cross cow. Store sheep met a particularly dead market, little interest being taken, and vendors finding it hard to do business. Values were down by about 1/6 for ewes with lambs at foot, and sold as all counted. Good forward wether hoggets made up to 18/9, and similar type ewe hoggets to 27/6. Extra prime well-wcolled ewes. Romneys. brought from £ 1 up to 22/, and cross types made to 23/11. Prime hoggets sold to 26/. Only a few single lots of wethers were on offer, best sorts making to 28/,
