Mr and Mrs Robert Jack, of Maungaturoto, formerly of Whangarei, have been transferred to Palmerston North.

When Group-Captain R. A. Cochrane, Chief of the Air Staff, relinquishes his position next January he will be succeeded by Wing-Commander H. W. L. Saunders. This announcement was made by the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, during his address at St. Kilda last night.

The chairman of the Northland Zone “A” Centennial Committee, Mr. W. Jones, together with the deputy chairman, Mr. H. W. Crawford, left this morning for Wellington, where they will attend .a meeting of the Centennial Provincial Committee tomorrow. On Saturday, members of the committee are to attend the laying of the foundation stone of the Centennial Exhibition, to be performed by the Governor-General, Lord Galway, on the exhibition site at Rongatai.
