Stock Exchange Easier

Although activity on the Auckland .Stock Exchange was maintained up to the close of business for the week, the marker was easier this morning. Australian securities were weaker all round.
Marked down from 6d from yesterday’s level. Broken Hill Proprietary finished between £2 18/3 and £2 18/9. British Tobaccos, Australian Iron and Steel, and Electrolytic Zincs were all affected by the easier tendency. Local industrials wore fairly active and steady, Moturoa Oils selling 2d up at 5/3 and Farmers’ Auctioneering B profs at a fractional rise. Several banking issues suffered from the general reduction in buyers’ limits, New Zealand’s closing between £2 2'B and £2 3/-. and New South Wales (Sydney), reg., between £3l and £3l 7/6.
Nationals and Commercials were firm. Interest was Tacking in the insurance section.
Government securities had a good inquiry round late rates, with fewer sellers in the market.
