Lots of our young things went along to enjoy the fun, and some of those glimpsed were Mrs Davenport. Misses Pat Cronin, Moya Simmons, Freda Woollamr. Zoo Phillips. Pat Coleman. Joan Ford, Nola Maxwell, Margaret Jack. Ivy Kendrick, Alaska Lloyd, Molly Fackwood, Muriel Millington. Gwen Eoyd, Kathleen Williams and Mary Evans.
Cheery log fires were welcome sights to those who had motored out—-on such, a wet night as Wednesday waste play Mah Jongg at the Mt. Denby golf house. Bowls of violets, spring bulbs and camellias were charmingly arranged in the lounge and reception rooms' and. the guests were welcomed by the president, Mrs Harold Cotter, who chose a black georgette gown. The players included Mesdames M. J. Lynch, Toby Sheen, F. Reynolds, S. 11. Ward, A. R. Ryder, J. A. S. Mac Kay, R. C. Napier, Wilson, R. K. Stevenson, S J. Weston, Eric Harrison, M. G. Fulton, A. M. Miss ‘Grace Brown hostessed one of the nicest parties at her home in Hatoa Street on Saturday night. Bowls of Iceland poppies decorated the drawing room, and mah jongg was the order of the evening. Her guests included Mesdames F. Reynolds, S. H. Ward, Ross Nelson. S. J. Weston. Roberts. Eric Thomson, W. T. Surinam E. J. Parkes; Misses W. E. Lamb. Jean Stewart. Esrnc Carter, Elsie Scarfe. The comings and goings this week are plentiful, and quite a few of our well knowns are making flying visits to Auckland —some to see Ruth. Draper, and others just to look up friends with a bit of spring shopping thrown in. Mrs D. J. Goodwin and Mrs W. T. Surman motored down on Friday night for a few days. Madge Finlayson also left during the week while Mrs Millington arrived homo today after two or three weeks holidaying in Auckland and the Rotorua district. Mr and Mrs H. Jenkins, of Tauranga, are the guests of Mrs N. F. Stead, of Hall Avenue, and Zoe Ward returrted home after three months’ holiday in the South Island. Mrs Jack Evans and daughter Mary, motored through to Wellington for a week or so.
