Mrs. Stone Deals With Mr. Semple
[Special to “Northern Advocate .”l WELLINGTON. This Day. Mrs E. 'L. Stone stated yesterday afternoon that she had received Mr Semple’s letter, in which he said he j had no regrets to express in regard j to his remarks concerning her in Parliament. Mrs Stone added that she could not see any difficulty in Mr Semple waiving his Parliamentary i privilege if he wished to do so. In | any case, there was nothing to prevent j him from .repeating the statement on j the public platform, as he said he | would when he so bravely stood to j his guns in Parliament. j "Mr Semple has had ample oppor- i (.unity to do this,” continued Mrs Stone. "I notice that he spoke at Ngaio on Monday night, but he was apparently not willing to repeat his words there. He is a very brave Mr Semple when he stands up in the House and protests his willingness to repeat his statement on every public ! platform in New Zealand, but he is a different Mr Semple when he fails to do that, and finds another con-1 venient privilege which prevents him from waiving his Parliamentary privilege.”
