Stock Exchange Quiet
[Spccial to "Northern Advocate.”] AUCKLAND, This Day. The only feature of a quiet call on the Stock Exchange this morning was some improvement in Australian banks. Commercials were quoted from 16/11 to 17/2, while buyers for Australasias increased their oilers to .£lO 7/6, and sellers raised their limits to £ll 1/6. New Zealand’s were ahead between 43/3 and 43/5. Insurances were firm, buyers moving up to 56/6 for New Zcalands and to 46/3 for South British. In Breweries. Dominions showed a slight recovery from recent "weeknesses. selling 3d up at 34/3. with buyers still in at 34/-. Australian i Industrials were quiet, with values steady, and Broken Hill Proprietary gained 2d with business at 59/6. Colonial Sugars were firm, with a, market between £4B 17/6 and £49 10/-, while Electrolytic Zincs sold a few pence cheaper.
There was a fair demand for coal shares, but. generally speaking. Now Zealand Industrials sluggish.
Government stocks had a slightly improved inquiry, with values unaltered, and there was a fair offering of local body debentures. Sales completed at the noon call today included; —Broken Hill Proprietary, £2 19(1; New Auckland Laundry,. £1; Mt. Morgan. 10 / 5.
