Concrete Building Wrecked at Eltham

[Per Press Association. Copyright.! ELTHAM, This Day.

Eltham felt the full force of a northwest gale, which has been blowing since just before noon yesterday. When the storm was at its height at 2.30 p.m. yesterday, a large singlestorey concrete building, lately occupied by Mr I. J. Bridge, became a total wreck, when the wind got under the roof. The outside walls were pushed out, and the roof fell with a crash through the floor to the cellar. All the plate-glass windows were wrecked. A shop next door also suffered considerable damage, and if the gale continues longer there is danger of the whole top of the building collapsing. Damage done in the country districts includes a large number of fences blown down. Wireless poles, signposts, verandahs and chimneys in the town suffered severely.
