NEW ROAD WORK. —The first work on the complete reconstruction of the Ngahauranga Gorge Road has been commenced. At the point illustrated at top right, the present road will be buried under a 50ft, fill and a great cutting, one of many, will drive straight through the rock face, as indicated. The other work shown in the photograph above is the commencement of a working track, which will also serve as a temporary stock route.
