Lightning Runs Riot At Rawene

Whereas; last week, Kohukohu was the centre of an electrical storm of great severity, this week-end another SHoklanga centre, Rawene. received the shocks.

The storm broke alfout 1.30 a.m. on Sunday. All telephone connections were disrupted and wires leading into the exchange were fused. Inside the post office building, fire plugs were blown from their places and scattered over the floor.

The electric power supply of the township was interrupted. In the residence of the postmaster, Mr J. Treloar, attached to the post office and exchange, the sign was blown cut of the chassis of the radio set, and the chair upon which the set was standing was shattered. Sixty telephone subscribers in the Rawene district were still cut off this

morning. Elsewhere in the North there was little or no dislocation of telegraphic or telephonic communication.
