Davis Cup Tennis

KANSAS CITY, July 30,

In the American zone semi-final of the Davis Cup contest, Australia has climated Mexico.

The doubles today were won by Quist and Bromwich, who defeated Tapia and Hem'andez, 6 —l, 6—fi, 6—3.

Neither of the Mexicans showed tournament form in the singles, and the Australians had an easy win. In the doubles, the fifth game in the first set produced the only real competition. It was chiefly the Australians’ errors which permitted repeated deucing. The Mexicans, i|n the second set, were completely outclassed and in the third set they were tired and discouraged. However, they gave a brief spectacular display and won three games, after which they we r e obviously outplayed.
