SWEDISH SETTLEMENT COMMEMORATION.—This monument was erected by the people of Sweden and presented by them to the State of Delaware, U.S.A., in memory of the first Swedish settlement on American soil in 1638. It is on the banks of the Christiana River and was dedicated on June 27, President Roosevelt and the Crown Prince Gustav Adolf being present at the ceremony.
