(Received 8.30 a.m.) PARIS, July 18. .-QITIZENS TODAY FOUND THE STREETS OF THE CAPITAL PLACARDED WITH A NOTICE SIGNED BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE MUNICEPALITY EMPHASISING THE IMPORTANCE OF THEIR BRITTANIC MAJESTIES’ VISIT TOMORROW “IN WHICH THEY WILL FEEL THE HEART OF PARIS BEATING." The notice adds “Bcflag your windows, decorate your houses and let the colours of the nations everywhere intermingle. Cheer Their Majesties. Paris, on behalf of France, will show her respectful affection to the sovereigns, her faithfulness to a dear friendship, and her faith in the future.’
- Rose Embowered Streets. The announcement sums up the feeling all over France on the eve of the visit. All the processional routes are gay with flags and bunting. Eighty thousand roses transformed the avenue de L'Opera into a rose-lined thoroughfare. The newspapers devote pages to the significance of the visit and description of the ceremony. It is estimated that £1,000,000 is being spent in welcoming Their Majesties. Thousands of presents are arriving at the British Embassy, the most original being from 16,000 Parisian tramps —a clay statuette of two tramps sitting on a street bench.
