Unusual Football Accident

An unusual accident was witnessed at Jubilee Park on Saturday afternoon, during the League football match between Ponsonby Reserve. Auckland, and the local Kensington team. In the second half, Noel Martin, the visiting full-back, received a severe bump while tackling Dave Parkes. He was knocked unconscious, but his hands still retained their grip on Parkes' ankles. With Parkes trying to escape from his unconscious opponent’s grip, it was thought, until the correct state of affairs was realised, that Ponsonby were going to be penalised for holding on. The game was stopped, and Martin was given first-aid. He recovered, and continued playing, but ill-effects made themselves apparent in the evening, when he was admitted to the Whangarei District Hospital. suffering from head injuries. He Avas discharged yesterday morning.
