Donald Budge Defeated

(Received 1.30 p.m.)

BELGRADE, July 12

Donald Budge, winner of three tides at this year’s Wimbledon tournament, was surprisingly defeated to-day in an exhibition game with Kukeljevic. The score was 15 —13, 7 —5. Gene Mako, another member of the American Davis Cup team, was beaten by F, Puncec, Yugoslavia’s loading singles player, who was seeded in the men’s singles at Wimbledon. The score in this game was 4—-G, G —2, 9—7. Kukoljevic's victory is a definite surprise. He ranks about third in Yugoslavian tennis, and was included in the'last Davis Cup team only as a doubles player.
