(Received 8.30 a.m.)
NEW YORK, July 9. - T 'THE POSSIBILITY OF THE ESTABLISHMENT IN CANADA OF A HUGE SUPPLY AND TRAINING BASE FOR THE BRITISH ROYAL AIR FORCE, IN ORDER TO REMOVE A GREAT SECTION OF MILITARY AVIATION FROM BRITAIN’S GEOGRAPHICAL VULNERABILITY, IS INDICATED, SAYS THE NEW YORK “HERALD-TRIBUNE.”
It is disclosed that the British air mission, on its recent visit, sought to induce American aircraft manufacturers to establish a Canadian plant on a guarantee to buy 1000 aeroplanes.
The plan is reported to have be on advanced sufficiently in diplomatic and military discussions that an expenditure of £250,000,000 by Britain ’ is regarded as possible.
The undertaking would embrace not only a factory and aerodrome, but a training field which could be con stantly used to develop pilots to man 5000 R.A.F. machines, to be permanently based in Canada.
