Food For Madrid
(Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, July 9.
Since the capture of Nules, near the Mediterranean coast, the last republican stronghold before Sagunto, the nationalists claim to have advanced within 10 miles of Sagunto, and to have captured the village of Moncofar, assisted by gunfire from the cruiser Canarias. They have also occupied Rubiales, further inland. In spite of the blockade, Madrid is receiving 200 tons daily of potatoes, frozen meat, and vegetables, and the position has been greatly eased.
