With the steady rain of Thursday night, flooding' was experienced in rime parts of the Whangarei district. At Ruakaka the road was under water though this did not affect the main highway. Whareora residents were considerably inconvenienced. In the morning portion of the road in the district was covered to a depth which prevented traffic getting through until midday. The driver ol the cream lorry remarked that it was tire worst flood he had experienced in this area. Some patrons of the Women's Institute dance on Thursday evening had to abandon their cars and wade through water to their homes. With the ceasing of the rain, however, the water got quickly away and by yesterday afternoon conditions were normal.
