Pacific Islands Control
(Received 1.30 p.m.) LONDON. July 8. Although regarded as virtually settled months ago, by Britain, America and the Dominion, the arrangement to share control of Enderbury and Canton Islands is again held up. Consequently, the trans-Pacific air services have been further delayed. The Australian Associated Press understands that the American Ambassador to Great Britain, Mr Joseph P. Kennedy, took back to Washington an amended scheme, which, it was hoped, would be approved, but Mr Kennedy returned to London with the documents, showing that the United States is raising the question of jurisdiction and sovereignty of other Pacific islands.
