Maungaturoto Concert
A very jolly and well attended concert took place at the Kate Flower I,Memorial Hall, Maungaturoto. on Friday evening. The teachers and mholars of the Congregational Sunday School felt they would like to kelp with the raising of funds for the Northland Orphanage, and are to be highly congratulated on the excellent concert, which raised over iIL G.
Rev. Thornloy, the jolly friend of i,ll the children, superintended the concert and Mrs Arthur Flower was the accompanist. The programme went with, a jolly swing throughout and every child entertained, from little Barry Preston, aged four, of mouth-organ fame, who plays his solo with much fervour and a lot of energy. It was disappointing to the audience that Master Albert Smith, “The wizard of the accordeon,” was unable to take the chair for the concert. McCormick, recitation; Rae Stewart, sblo; Brian Flower, recitation; Brenderwyn class, play, “The Happy Family”; ‘Tom Underwood, recitation; Marie Smith, song; Laurel Jeffs, recitation; the girls,, song, “Loch Lomond”; Doreen Smith, tap dance; Warren Ford, recitation: Maude Underwood, recitation; Allan Flower, mouth-organ solo; Moira Cliff, x'ecitation;; Mary Jones, song; Donald Cullen, recitation; Jean Unwood, solo; Tom Underwood, recitation.
