County Machinery On Race Track

Racing enthusiasts at Pataua will receive the assistance of the Whangarei County Council in preparing the racing track for the Labour Day picnic being organised by the Pataua Farmers’ Picnic Racing Club. At yesterday’s meeting of the county council a request was received from the club requesting the services of a power grader for use on the race track. Cr. Clarke explained that the club had formerly organised a popular racing picnic, which had later been barred by legislature. The holding of the meeting was again legal, and farmers in the district were almost unanimous in their enthusiasm over Ihe Labour Day meeting. The track had been formerly used for racing purposes, and it would not require more than one day's work for a good grader to pul it in good order. The council agreed to grant the club the use of a grader, on condition Hint the club reimbursed the countv for the cost of the work.
