Yesterday’s improved tone was maintained at this morning’s call on the Stock Exchange, Australian issues holding the latest advances. In the banking section, Commercials gained another twopence, with business at 16/2, more being available at that price. The preferences were in demand at £9 6/, with no sellers. Glass shares had further recorded business at 97/6, after which buyers dropped out, leaving unsupported sellers at 98/. Dunlops confirmed yesterday’s firmness 'and sold 2/1 up, at 22/. There was keen bidding for Barrier stock also for Mt. Lyells and Electrolytic Zincs. North Broken Hill made the biggest advance, with a market between 50/ and 54 / ; but Zincs were priced 'a little lower. Government stocks were steady at about late rates. Dominion miscellaneous issues were quiet and steady. Sales completed at the noon call today included: Commercial Banks, 16/2; Bank of New Zealand, £2 3/;
United Building, £1; Broken Hill Proprietary, £3; Waihi, 9/1; Mt. Morgan. 10'5 to 10/6; Grand Junction, 2/10J.
