Senior B

BRILLIANT PIPIWAI BACKS. Pipiwai's backs won the day against Manaia* the final score being 23—8 in Pipiwai's favour. From the start, Pipiwai dominated play, the backs giving some brilliant exhibitions of fast, open football, which was much appreciated. They refused to keep the ball in the tight, but threw it about rapidly, keeping the forwards in reserve. R. Shortland played the most outstanding game of the day, his speed and accuracy of passing being as good as anything seen in senior contests. He scored the first, two tries for Pipiwai, while C. Moore, who was playing splendidly on the wing, scored once and kicked a penalty., A try by Robinson for Manaia, converted by Hutchinson, saw the half-time score 12—5. Further points for Pipiwai came from tries by Wilson, Moore and T. Shortland. and a conversion by Smallwood. Hutchinson kicked a penalty for Manaia.

Country United beat Whatitiri by default.
