Ferocious Wrestling
L Special to “Northern Advocate." l AUCKLAND. This Day. When two wrestlers ot the calibre of Pat Meehan, 16st 41bs. and Pat Fraley, 16st, meet, there is bound Vo be some very spectacular wrestling. Last Saturday evening at Auckland, when Fraley was disqualified in the seventh round, proved no exception to this rule, and from the opening geng blows fell thick and fast, to the evident appreciation of the large audience of fans.
In the seventh round, the match ended when Fraley, after a general mix-up, applied his specialised flying toe-hold. When Meehan submitted almost at once he still continued to exert pressure, and would not desist until the referee hauled him bodily from Meehan, who could not continue. In the light of this, the referee quite justifiably awarded the match to Meehan, who. when Fraley offered to shake hands, refused. Before only a fair crowd at the town hall, Greymouth. on Saturday night, Jack Kennedy. 16st 41bs. drew with Andy TVloen, 16st 81bs. one fall each. It was one of the most spectacular professional wrestling bouts witnessed in Greymouth.
