S.P.C.A. Affairs

A number of friends of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals met at the residence of Mrs W. R. Patterson, Onerahi Road, recently to discuss plans for augmenting the funds of the local branch.

Suggestions of a practical nature disclosed much enthusiasm and it was decided to have an S.P.C.A. “Bring and Buy” stall at the forthcoming Winter Show.

The widespread interest which follows the work of the society can be well understood. The organisation has for one of its objects, the education of the younger generation in natural history, and the care of animals. With the vast amount of good work which has been accomplished, more in

the way of confidential advice and vet- ; erinary assistance than in open prosei cution, a better feeling exists today j than was formerly the case. I The society always welcomes new members.
