THE VEGETABLE GARDEN Plant cabbage, cauliflower, lettuce. Sow a few early dwarf peas. Give a sheltered position and a deep, well-drained soil. THE FLOWER GARDEN Annuals may be planted out where the soil is well-drained, and the situation sheltered and sunny. If the positions are exposed, planting should be left over until spring. Gladioli that have been hung up to dry may have the leaves pulled away, and the dry husk and old corm removed, ready for soaking in formation before planting next month. Annuals that are being blown about in the wind should have protection. Tea-tree bush makes a good temporary shelter. Keep the ground forked over and clear of weeds. Cut out any shrubs not wanted, and make suitable replacements.
