■■THERE has been simply a deluge of parties this week, and many of our more popular ‘'socially prominents” have found it hard to fit them all in. Most of them, of course, were final farewells to Mrs W. E, Crawford, who leaver, by the Niagara on Tuesday for Australia and England Mrs I). .). Coodwin. whose pavtitv, always go with a swing, must be given full marks for hospitality. On Thursday she invited a number of friends to lunch at (ho Kamo Hotel, whore novelties of all descriptions, including a large gold horse-shoe, decorated the tables. Later the guests were bidden to her home in Bank Stree! for mah jongg. Those present were: Mesdames David Singer, A. Ik Morgan. W. J. Glanville. W. T. Sunnan, W. E, Crawford. Ross Nelson and Miss Madge Finlayson.
Another mah jongg hostess for Mrs Crawford was Mrs Harold Cotter, who invited her guests 'to play the old Chinese game of chance at her home, “Four Acres, on Monday evening. The hostess received her guests wearing a black georgette frock, while the guest of honour chose floral ninon. Those present were: Mesdaraes N. F. Stead, T. Mitchell. Eric Harrison, David
Singer, W. T. Sunnan and D. J. Goodwin. Others who hostessed for Mrs Crawford wore Mrs K. D. Ifwerson and Mrs J, L. S Horrell. Mrs L. A. Johnson has arrived henn* from New Plymouth and is now plan - rung summer clothes to take 10. tlie Islands when she leaves on the cruise early next month.
Mrs Reg Henry, of Remuera, and Miss Cleary, of Otiria, have been the guests of Mrs A..H. Crane, while Miss Runty Smidt is arriving on Tuesday and will be the guest of Mrs A. O. Brown, of Ruatangata. ... f . $ - + A Thursday night festivity of bright vintage was the party in the Nok Nok Inn given by the many friends of Miss Miriam Ansell and Mr Craig Partridge, who are both leaving W hangarsi shortly—the former going to Wellington and the latter to Auckland. Those fare welling the departees were: Mrs Roger Brown, Mrs Jock Wilson, IVL& T. Woodhams. and the Misses Pat Cronin. Nola Maxwell, Zoc Phillips, Margaret Jack. Lasca Royd. Gwynne Jennings, Nancy Thomas, Ivy Kendrick, Carmen Cameron and Betty Crozier.
