Three Hours’ Battle; Strikers And Pickets

(Received 2 p.m.) AKRON, May 27. At least 100 were injured and hundreds of other people were gassed when police and 3000 pickets battled for three hours in the strike-bound Goodyear Rubber Plant. The police, using tear gas and truncheons, moved on the pickets, who retaliated with stones and fought savagely on the blood-stained streets. The Adjutant-General of Ohio, fearing further trouble, ordered 3000 militia to be held in readiness for a sudden mobilisation.
