Paris Protects Royal Visitors
(Received 1 p.m.) PARIS, May 27. Unprecedented measures to protect King George and Queen Elizabeth during their visit were decided upon by a joint meeting of the heads of the Surete ahd Scotland Yard. An extensive purge of undesirable foreigners is being carried out, and will be intensified immediately.
During the Royal procession, police planes will fly over the route, making contact with headquarters by means of telephones. Large bodies of troops are being drafted to Paris, in order to patrol the route.
All residents in buildings on routes along v/hich Their Majesties will pass must obtain police passes, otherwise they will not be able to leave or enter during the visit.
Nobody is to be allowed to stand on a window overlooking' the route, unless the owner of the property makes a declaration vouching for his integrity. Police will be stationed at the doors of rooms overlooking the routes, and will inspect passes cf all entering. Shops and offices must be evacuated an hour before the King and Queen pass.
Only ground floors and cafes will be permitted to open and no raised vantage points may be erected.
