Jones—Hope

WEDDINGS

A pretty wedding was solemnised in the Whangarei Presbyterian Churc'* on Monday. May 23. by the Rev. W. Elliott, M.A.. when Nancy Mary Hope, second daughter of Mr and Mrs T. S. E. Sloane,. 45 Kauika Road, married Heathcote Jones, second son of Mr and Mrs D. Jones, Whareora. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a slim-fitting trained gown of white silk velvet. Her beautifully embroidered veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom and lily of the valley, and the shower bouquet was composed of white chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern, with streamers of white satin ribbon. Ihe three bridesmaids. Misses Girlie and Jean Hope, sisters of the bride, and Miss Laura Jones,, sister ,ofthe bridegroom, were dressed alike in slimfitting gowns of blue silk velvet, with silver-tasselled girdles and halos of silver flowers. They carried posies of white, blue and silver to tone. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr Alec Jones, as best man, and. Messrs. Malcolm Jones and Kelvin Hope as groomsmen.

The reception was held in the Balmoral tearooms.

Mrs T. S. E. Sloane. mother of the bride, who received the guests, wore a navy blue costume, with hat and accessories to match, and carried a bouquet of scarlet cyclamen. Mrs Jones, the bridegroom’s , mother, wore a brown floral ensemble and carried a bouquet of autumn-tinted flowers. Mrs E. L. Hope, of Hamilton, grandmother of the bride, wore a black ensemble and small black hat.

Following the wedding breakfast. Mr and Mrs Jones left by car on their honeymoon The bride travelled in a smart navy frock and astrachan coat, with hat and accessories to match.
