Difference Over Laundry Site

The site the new laundry should occupy received a good deal of attention from the Mangonui Hospital Beard cn Thursday. Advice of the department's wishes to change the site first proposed was received from Mr A. P. Morgan, architect. Whangarei. The change meant a good deal of work, owing to the different levels, and Mr Morgan suggested that tender’s be invited for both the laundry and the nurses' home at the same time as Ibis would probably mean prices more favourable to the board. Mr Micbie said he did notvthink the site favoured by the department for the laundry was suitable. It would be in front of the other buildings, and there may bo a smoke nuisance to deal with. The laundry would be too prominent. The secretary said it had been arranged that Dr. Rule should go into the position and make recommendations. As they were urgently in need of accommodation for the nurses, they should proceed with the nurses’ home as soon as possible. It was decided, on the motion of Mr Michie. to push on with the calling of tenders for the home.

The chairman: I had hoped that we would have the new laundry in use this winter, but there is now no possibility of that. The board made an inspection of the proposed laundry silo during the luncheon adjournment. and it was decided later to communicate its objections to Dr. Watt.
