Wandering Stock A Nuisance At Ahipara
Considerable trouble had been experienced last month, the poundkeeper told the Mangonu County Council on Wednesday, with wandering stock in the Ahipara township. All the offenders wore natives, and if the trouble persisted court proceedings would be necessary. Cr. Berghan said there was no question about the nuisance. Those who had sections in the Ahipara township were endeavouring to make improvements of general benefit, and the cattle were destroying the results of their work. He would like the council to take legal action. He had spoken to all concerned and they had said that property owners should protect themselves with sufficient wire fences.
The chairman: That is not necessary. One of the difficulties in taking proceedings is proving ownership. On the motion of Cr, Matthews, the poundkeeper was instructed to take legal action against the owners of all .stock found on a public road.
