Harbour Board Chairman Looks To Future
‘•Next year. 1 will expect you to fill the position of chairmanship with someone else,*’ declared Mr J. A. Finlayson, who was today re-elected chairman of the Whangarei Harbour Board. “I think a man can be long enough in the chair, and if it weye not that there had been an election and that the board’s polity had been attacked, I would not have carried on for another year. “We have been elected here to plan the future, and we trust the past will be buried,” continued Mr Finlayson. “The people who hav6~eleeted us now look to the future. I sincerely hope that, although we must disagree on some points, nothing we say at this meeting will ever be taken out of the board room. “I thank you for your continued confidence in me as chairman and in the policy I have always put forward.” The chairman's annual allowance of £IOO was renewed.
