As the Duchess of York, she toured New Zealand, and, as in the Homeland, she won the love of everybody. Queen of England during the most trying years of the Empire’s history, she was a model consort of a great King. Her widowhood, in 1936, made her the recipient of wonderful manifestations of the nation’s love and respect.
