Mistaken Identity

It will be some time before a local body official in the neighbourhood of Dunedin is allowed to forget a slip he made the other day, and probably the escape he had from finding himself in a very unpleasant position will keep the incident alive in his mind even without the “chaff” to which he will inevitably be subjected, says the “Otago Daily Times.” The official had travelled by bus to an outlying camp, armed with the usual small case containing the wages to some relief workers. Arriving at his destination, he lined the men up and opened the bag to exhibit to the startled workers a collection of obviously feminine garments. Realising that he must have picked up the wrong bag when leaving the bus, he became a busy man for a few minutes, and recovered his own bag without, difficulty.
